History

HITEC Sensor Developments is a Safety Technology Holdings Company, and is made up of a growing portfolio of products, sensor design expertise and service capabilities. Established in 2017 through the merger of HITEC Sensor Solutions (Littleton, MA) and Sensor Developments (Lake Orion, MI), HITEC Sensor Developments, Inc. has over 85 years of combined experience in providing custom load cells, force sensors, torque and pressure transducers, and strain gages.

HITEC Sensor Solutions Company was established in 1971 to provide a wide range of specialized engineering services for elevated temperature and extreme environment sensor applications and measurements. Throughout the years, we have expanded our capabilities to offer custom ‘transducerization’ of customer supplied components to a wide variety of industries as well as custom OEM force, load, torque and pressure transducers from design to production. The sensor expertise at HITEC Sensor Solutions is second to none, and we serve companies large and small in the Aerospace, Automotive, Industrial, Medical, and Oil & Gas and other markets. HITEC Sensor Solutions focuses on custom sensor designs as well as strain gauging services both in-house and on-site.

Sensor Developments Company was formed in 1976 as an engineering consulting firm specializing in the science of force measurement and sensor design. We have expanded by adding highly skilled people with diverse backgrounds and manufacturing facilities for specialized force and torque sensors that fit into many industries and applications. Sensor Developments has a wide range of load cells, force sensors, torque transducers and specialty application sensors and serves the Automotive, Aerospace, Medical, Nuclear, Textile and OEM Markets worldwide.

Fibercore is also owned by Safety Technology Holdings, and partners with HITEC Sensor Developments to be able to offer optical based sensors. Fibercore has 30 years of innovation and excellence at the top of its profession, designing and manufacturing specialty optical fibers. Fibercore products are used in an incredibly broad and growing range of applications spread throughout more than 50 countries including fiber optic gyroscopes (FOGs), fiber optic hydrophones, fiber lasers, fiber amplifiers (EDFAs), embedded sensors, specialist medical, government and corporate research agencies and telecommunications components.
